From cooling towers to geothermal wells: keep your water working and your system running.
We protect plant efficiency and extend equipment life by controlling scaling, corrosion and microbial growth. Our BiyoGeo series, designed for the geothermal sector, protects against calcite and silica scaling and corrosion at high temperatures and in demanding fluids.

What are water treatment chemicals and how do you choose them?
Water treatment chemicals control scaling, corrosion, microbial growth and turbidity in cooling towers, steam boilers, reverse osmosis systems and wastewater plants. Scale inhibitors (antiscalants) prevent calcium carbonate and silica deposition; corrosion inhibitors form a protective film on metal; oxygen scavengers remove dissolved oxygen from boiler water; biocides control biofilm and Legionella; coagulants and flocculants settle suspended solids.
The programme is designed from the make-up and circuit water analysis, system type, operating temperature and discharge limits.
Selection criteria
- Water analysis: hardness, alkalinity, conductivity, silica, chloride, pH
- System type: open cooling, closed loop, boiler, RO, wastewater
- Target cycles of concentration and blowdown strategy
- Materials (carbon steel, copper alloys, stainless, galvanised)
- Discharge regulations and microbiological targets (Legionella)
Use and dosage
Typical dosages: RO antiscalant 2–5 ppm in feed water; cooling tower scale/corrosion inhibitor 20–100 ppm in circuit water; boiler oxygen scavenger 5–15 ppm in excess of residual oxygen; non-oxidising biocide shock dose 50–150 ppm; coagulant set by jar test. Dosing point and continuous/shock dosing depend on system design; performance is monitored with coupons, conductivity and microbial counts.
The ranges given are typical values; the exact dosage is determined by the product’s Technical Data Sheet (TDS) and a trial in your own process.
Packaging, storage and shelf life
25–30 kg cans, 200–250 kg drums and 1,000–1,200 kg IBCs. Store between +5 °C and +35 °C, protected from frost and sun; shelf life 12 months depending on the product. Biocides and acidic products are stored separately in a ventilated area.
Why Biyopol?
Biyopol Kimya is an industrial chemicals manufacturer producing in İzmir, Türkiye since 1992. It offers own-brand products and contract manufacturing in nine product groups, provides a TDS/SDS for every product, runs trials in its laboratory and at the customer’s site, and supplies in cans, drums and IBCs.
Frequently asked questions
Which systems are water treatment chemicals used in?
Steam boilers, cooling towers, closed-loop heating and cooling systems and geothermal plants are the main applications.
How is the right treatment programme determined?
Water analysis, system type, operating temperature and materials are assessed together. The effectiveness of the programme should be monitored with regular water analyses.
How are scale and corrosion controlled together?
A combined programme containing a scale inhibitor and a corrosion inhibitor is usually applied. If you share your water analysis results, our technical team will review them.
How can I get samples and technical documents (SDS / TDS)?
Use our Request a Quote form and select “Sample request” or “SDS / TDS request”; our team will send you the documents you need.
