R&D and TÜBİTAK Projects

R&D is the foundation of our products.

At Biyopol Kimya we turn the problems we encounter in the field into R&D projects. The know-how built up in our TÜBİTAK-supported projects is reflected today in the products and technical support we offer our customers.

Our approach to R&D

A need from the fieldProjects start from the real problems of our customers and the industry.
Scientific methodLaboratory work, measurable targets and documented results.
CollaborationWhere needed, we work together with universities and research institutions.
CommercialisationOur goal is to turn results into products and solutions used in the field.

Our projects

Projects completed under the TÜBİTAK 1507 SME R&D Start-up Support Programme and our ongoing industrialisation work. Summaries are simplified and contain no product or process details.

Synthesis of Scale-Inhibiting Polymers for Geothermal Power Plants

As geothermal fluid rises to the surface, falling pressure and temperature reduce the solubility of dissolved minerals; scale forms in pipelines, turbines and heat exchangers, and blockages stop production and raise costs. The project synthesised scale-inhibiting polymers that withstand high water hardness, high alkalinity and pressure, offer strong dispersing performance and do not cause corrosion.

Project output
The product was commercialised and became the basis of the scale-control solutions we supply to geothermal fields. The project was carried out in-house.

Production of Water-Soluble/Dispersible Polyester Resin from Waste PET Bottles

Recycling rates for plastic waste are low worldwide and around 30% in Türkiye. The project set out to use waste PET as a raw material in the production of an industrial polyester resin used by the textile industry: less waste to landfill, conservation of natural resources, lower waste-management costs and a smaller carbon footprint.

Project output
A competitive polyester resin for the textile industry containing a substantial share of waste PET was developed; R&D and pilot production were completed. The project was carried out in-house.

Industrial-Scale Production of Waste-PET-Based Polyester Resin

Launched to take the resin whose R&D and pilot production were completed in the 1507 project to industrial production.

Project output
Local, industrial-scale production of a raw material that the textile industry has so far imported.
