Chemical Solutions for Aydın Geothermal Fields

Home Industries Geothermal Power Plant Chemicals Chemical Solutions for Aydın Geothermal Fields

With fields stretching along the Büyük Menderes Graben, Aydın is one of the centres of geothermal power generation in Türkiye. Plants around Germencik, İncirliova, Kuyucak, Sultanhisar and Salavatlı use both flash and binary technology.

Typical problems in the region

Büyük Menderes Graben fluids are generally known for high dissolved CO₂ (non-condensable gas) content. This raises the risk of calcite scaling around the flash point in production wells, and CO₂ also accelerates corrosion of carbon-steel equipment. In binary plants, heat exchangers where the fluid is cooled and reinjection lines should be monitored for silica and mixed scales.

  • Calcite scale and flow loss in production wells
  • CO₂-driven corrosion
  • Silica and metal silicate fouling in binary heat exchangers
  • Loss of injectivity in reinjection lines

Biyopol’s approach

The programme is built on each field’s fluid analysis and operating data: downhole calcite prevention via capillary tubing, a silica and corrosion programme for surface equipment and reinjection, and regular performance monitoring. The BiyoGeo series, developed for Turkish geothermal fluids in a TÜBİTAK 1507-supported project, is the basis of this programme.

Proximity advantage

Our plant in İTOB Organized Industrial Zone, Menderes, is about an hour by road from the Aydın fields. Sampling, site visits and urgent deliveries can be planned within the same day.

Frequently asked questions

How do we send samples from Aydın fields?

Our team can come to the site to take samples, or you can email your fluid analysis.

Can we run a trial without changing our current programme?

Yes; a laboratory compatibility test first, then a controlled trial on a single well or line.

What is the delivery time?

It depends on stock, but deliveries to Aydın fields can be made quickly; a regular schedule is set up for continuous dosing.
